When Doubts Won't Quiet Down

Shield of Faith

Friend,

"In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." (Ephesians 6:16, BSB)

A Roman shield wasn't small. It was large enough to cover most of a soldier's body, and soldiers often stood shield to shield in formation, covering each other.

Fear and doubt come at us like those flaming arrows Paul describes, sudden and meant to catch us off guard. What if this doesn't work out? What if I've made a mistake I can't undo? What if God isn't really listening?

Faith isn't pretending those arrows aren't coming. It's trusting God's character enough to hold up the shield anyway, even when you can't see how the situation will resolve.

Reflection Question: What fear needs to be met with God's promises today?

Prayer: Strengthen my faith.

Today's Next Step: Read 31 Bible verses for fear and anxiety.

Stand firm today. May the Lord strengthen your heart, guard your mind, and remind you that you never fight alone.

In Christ, Karen
