What are you believing today?

Belt of Truth

Hi friend,

A Roman soldier's belt wasn't decoration. It held everything else in place. Without it, the rest of the armor shifted and slipped in battle.

Paul knew what he was doing when he put truth first:

"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist." (Ephesians 6:14, BSB)

Truth is what holds the rest of your armor together. And I don't just mean truth in general. I mean the specific lies you are believing about yourself right now. That you're behind. That you're too much or not enough. That God is disappointed in you. Those thoughts feel true because they're loud, not because they're accurate.

In my years counseling women through grief and hard seasons, I saw this over and over. The lie almost always sounded reasonable. It's supposed to. That's how lies work. The only thing that steadies a person in that moment is replacing the lie with something true and unshakeable, which is God's Word.

Reflection Question: What lie do you need to replace with truth today?

Prayer: Anchor me in Your truth.

Today's Next Step: Read this post on the belt of truth.

Stand firm today. May the Lord strengthen your heart, guard your mind, and remind you that you never fight alone.

In Christ, Karen
