A prayer for whatever "Jabez" you've been called

Hey friend,

Have you ever felt guilty asking God to bless you?

I have. For years, praying for my kids and grandkids came easy. Praying for myself felt like I was asking for too much.

Then I sat with the prayer of Jabez, a short, bold prayer tucked into 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, and it changed how I ask God for things.

Jabez didn't hedge. He didn't apologize. He asked God to bless him, enlarge his reach, guide his hand, and keep him from harm. And Scripture says God granted his request.

Most people think this prayer is about money or success. It's not. It's about a man who wanted God's hand on every part of his life, and who trusted God enough to ask boldly for it.

In the full post, I walk through what each line of Jabez's prayer actually means, who he was, and a simple prayer you can pray over your own hard season, whatever name or label it's tried to put on you.

If this speaks to where you are right now, my Armor of God Prayer Journal walks you through praying Scripture with purpose, the same way we just did with Jabez's prayer, verse by verse, so you can carry this practice into every hard season you face.
